A CUSTOM MAP!? Hello everyone, I recently just scrapped this other outlands map I was doing (Which I'm starting to regret now) for a new one. I really want this whole, change from map to map to end already so what better way to do that is to make a custom one fit to our needs! Now this can go many different directions although I would like to start with a framework. Maybe even draw the look of it. I'm wanting this to be a detailed map so I'll be doing a lot of planning before I actually make it. That said, this is a community map so I have to fill out certain things so I know what I am doing: Landmarks: 1.) Kingdom Castle 2.) Third Position Base 3.) Main Town (Center of map) 4.) Train Station 5.) Shacks ( 6.) Possible Silo Research Lab Thing ) Environment:1.) Wasteland (Desert Apocolypse)Nautral Landmarks:1.) Oasis2.) Mountains/Hills3.)4.)Possible things for this:RiverBeachLakeOasisMountainsAnyway, vote away, discuss, debate, scream, whisper whatever. My thoughts... 1st, I love you. 2nd, make sure you dont use anything that involves ep1 / 2 please, css is fine (and hl2, duh) I like the bases idea, but dont make that the central idea of the map. The main town needs to be big with the houses all being open so you can go inside of them (dont be that guy that makes the map w/ all the fake doors and houses you cant go into) Also, some scattered about shacks / destroyed homes for people to hide out in are nice. Train = yes. Some hills, I like the oasis. Some kind of post-apocalyptic desert/wasteland environment. Dark but not too dark b/c flashlights are a bitch and wont work. Heres a ROUGH ROUGH ROUGH picture, just what i'm kinda picturing in my head. make it bigger and more detailed and expansive and yea.. The train would go close but not too close to the 2 bases and it would go right by the smaller one, maybe even make the train go through the city. The main city would have a wall around it but it would be crumbling. The 2 main bases would have big walls/ a gate (which can be locked via buttons on the inside) they should have a bunch of rooms / things inside for RP, like bunks rooms / command rooms / armory, you know what i'm looking for. A few of the shacks should have basements/ maybe little bunkers under them. The main town needs to be biig, with a little decapitation going on (but not too much). I also want the spawn room to be away from the main map like that one map we were on, where I can put rules and things on the walls and then people teleport out.

As far as ep1 / 2. I really wanted to use Episode 2 content because it has EVERYTHING I NEED, but I know the problems that come with it with Gmod. So I'll try working with HL2 as much as possible.

I say fuck newbs that don't have ep2.
As for a map, I had this epic idea just brainstorming with Alex. So, there's this old abandoned missile silo, right. It's rather large around, and fairly deep. And all around the outside, there are levels of offices and living areas and research labs, so each level is a ring of rooms that could have some sort of theme, and all kinds of branches, depending on how adventurous you wanted to get. There could be elevators or transports of some kind running along the inside of the silo to get to different levels.

If you need help with anything as I can do some basic stuff for you while you work on the main parts if you need.
Edit: Maybe the beginning of a bunker which you can enter but has collapsed in so it leads no where.

What time is it? UPDATE TIME: Okay, so I realized I really want this to be a professional map so I'm making every square inch really good looking. I'll show you what I have so far and you tell me what you think. First, the map name is rp_fallendesert_frp Without getting into too much detail this is the start room where everyone spawns. I'm really confused on what the hell this would be. This was originally supposed to be the castle, but it's making me want to rip my eyes out. ^ Also don't pay attention to the weird skybox in the background. I will be adding a 3D skybox, but I can only do it once I finish the whole map so I can get the right measurements and not have to fiddle with too much compiling when I build right now. Now, this house is supposed to be the one that goes underground, cause Doom wanted something that goes underground. BUT THIS FREAKING ELEVATOR IS BOTHERING ME! So I'm not done yet with it and this is what I'm currently working on. And last but not least, the everlasting wasteland feel I'm trying to accomplish. I only started working on this today, but you get the idea. So you may be asking me now, why is this so not finished Pilot? This looks like crap. Well...just wait until I'm done. Like I said this is just a sliver of the map, not even a quarter so you'll just have to sit down and wait until I can optimize the hell out of it. And right now it's all being put on one person, so don't expect this to go very fast. That said. Bai!
